MEET LAURA
The gal behind Gooseberry
I believe in messy hair, bright lipstick and puppy kisses. I can usually be found guzzling Earl Grey, bustling around the studio, chasing after my fur monsters, biking, baking and puttering in the garden. But my favourite way to pass an afternoon is chatting with people about their passions and pursuits, because I truly believe that anything is possible when you approach it creatively.
This belief is why I do what I do here at Gooseberry – I’m obsessed with helping others build their ideas into the real world in strategic and artistic ways that leave a lasting impression, whether for their professional or personal lives.
Before opening Gooseberry Studios in 2013, I worked in publishing as a multi-brand Web Editor for Canadian Living, Style at Home and ELLE Canada. I now help nurture brands by developing their body of work and long-term creative strategies, crafting editorial photoshoots for professional and personal moments, and designing goods for the creative good. In other words, I help others meaningfully build forward.
When I’m not working on commercial projects, I’m focused on my art career — producing limited-edition fine art prints, beautiful books, inspired goods and writing about topics that move me, like inspiring offline magic.
I’m not super active on social media these days, not as any sort of statement but simply because it exhausts me. Instead I channel my energy into The Gooseberry Review, a free monthly Substack newsletter dedicated to encouraging your own creative everyday way of working and living.
But enough about me… How can I help you?
